Evergreen Care Trust Crisis Cash Co-operative

Evergreen Care Trust has established a Crisis Cash Cooperative. The “bank” will operate from the Ballroom at the Stamford Arts Centre Tuesday and Thursday from 9am – midday.

Evergreen and supportive partners have made available a cash fund for anyone who is selfisolating and has a volunteer or neighbour who can collect interest free cash loans for essential shopping once a week on their behalf.

To Register for the scheme please contact Evergreen or ask for a form from your Evergreen volunteer, Crisis Volunteer, Support Our Stamford Volunteer or local Church leader.

Persons registered for the scheme are billed at the end of the month & can re pay any loan sum by cheque or bank transfer. In the event that they do not have these facilities, they can ‘settle their account’ at the end of the crisis & self-isolating period.

For individuals there is £30 per week available and for couples £50.

Stamford Foodbank

The Foodbank can provide a minimum of three days’ emergency food and support to people in crisis. Food banks work with frontline professionals to identify people in need and issue them with a food bank voucher. These include local agencies such as children’s centres, housing associations, advice charities and mental health teams, who are best placed to assess need.

Once a person is referred, they can bring the voucher to their nearest food bank centre, where it can be exchanged for a parcel containing a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced food. Food banks are designed to provide short-term, emergency support with food during a crisis. Their aim is to relieve the immediate pressure of the crisis by providing food, while also providing additional support to help people resolve the crises that they face.

If you or anyone you are supporting needs a Foodbank Voucher please call 07928 820247 to access an voucher code. Opening times: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1pm-3pm.

Second Helpings

Second Helpings, Stamford, aims to reduce food waste by using food gifted from local sources that would otherwise go to landfill. Both our café and shop are run by volunteers on a Pay-as-you -Feel basis, serving the needs of local people from all walks of life regardless of the ability to pay. The Bunker has now moved to the Methodist Church Hall and is co-ordinating opening times with Foodbank opening times, where possible. They are also producing frozen ready meals for distribution. See http://www.secondhelpings.org.uk/ for opening times.
