Our children and young people are an important part of Stamford URC.  We see them not just as 'the church of the future' but also to be valued and cherished as part of God's Kingdom today, along with everyone else!  We were therefore delighted be awarded the Child Friendly Church Award by the URC - an award which recognises excellence among churches working with children.

Criteria for the award include:

*provision for children and youth nurturing groups (0-18 years)
*opportunities for the voices of under 18s to be heard
*feedback from young people
*opportunities for children and young people to be included in child friendly services
*ongoing training and support for leaders

             Creche

Our crèche children range from babies in their prams to toddlers. Hazel, our crèche leader has been caring for crèche children for many years and she is assisted by a team of helpers. A range of toys and books is available for our babies and toddlers to help them learn as they play. Mums and Dads can leave their children at crèche at 10.30 am before joining Sunday morning worship.

Junior Church

Our Junior Church children (3 years up) join with the rest of the congregation for the first part of our Sunday Worship at 10.45 am.  They are then taken over to the Hall to continue their worship in singing, activities and learning.  Our Junior Church Leaders - Anne, Katherine and Sandra - are experienced and enthusiastic in their work.

J.A.M. (Jesus And Me)

J.A.M. (for 10 years and over) meets every month in the Livingstone Room at the URC Hall on Broad Street, Stamford. Activities include crafts, games, DVD and discussion, finishing with drinks and cake.  See the 'What's On' page for information about the next session of J.A.M.

Praise Parties

We hold a Praise Party in the Hall about 6 times a year. They are aimed at children up to 10 years and their families and we especially welcome children who are not part of our Junior Church or Crèche. Each Praise Party has a theme, with songs, music, games, activities and food!  See the 'What's On' page for information about the next Praise Party.

Shining Stars

Held in the Hall on Broad Street at 10 am to 11.30 am every Tuesday morning during term time, Shining Stars is a Parent/Carer & Toddler Group which aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for toddlers and their parents/carers to meet, chat and play.  Cost is £1 per family, per session, which includes toys, crafts, activities and refreshments.  (Photo shows our summer 2010 picnic).  Shining Stars is currently on Summer break; the first session of the new term will be Tuesday 7th September.
